Secret Stitching Revealed

Last month I posted about some secret stitching I was doing. Well, yesterday was Theresa's birthday and I can finally reveal what I was doing. Autumn and I made a biscournu for Theresa. You can see a great picture of it on her blog....picture. I know she had a great birthday!

STRR and 5 Things

I got Misty's RR in the mail Saturday and thought I would get right to it. I am great at procrastinating so I am trying to keep up with this one. I finished it Sunday afternoon. I think it is turning out very nice. I know this isn't the greatest of pictures but, you get the general idea.

I was at the store last night and I started thinking about the state I live in. It really gets a bad rap. We have our share of problems, Katrina and crooked politicians come to mind. I challenged myself to come up with 5 things that I love about the state that I live in. Here is what came to mind.
1. Food. We have some very unique food here. The strawberries are so good, not to mention the seafood. Where else do you eat crawfish out of the ditch? We also have gumbo and beignets. Those are just a few of my favorites. The sweet potatos are so sweet you don't have to put anything on them. I love the food (no remarks here, I know you can tell)
2. Culture. One big thing that come to mind is Mardi Gras. That is something unique to this area. Our parades are like non others. Most parades in other parts of the country, you just stand there and watch it pass. Not here. Audience participation is required. The people on the floats throw beads at you.
3. Landscape. It is very flat here. That works for me as I get extreme motion sickness. It is very pretty. There are lakes everywhere, often in the most unexpected places. There are some places you can go and be in the city on one street and the next street has nothing but acres of land with cows and horses.
It stays green almost year round. Which leads me to....
4. Weather. It is never really cold here. I mean maybe 20 days total every year is it really cold and then I am talking in the 20's. It hardly ever gets below that. Now it is hot in the summer but, I just stay inside in the air conditioning.
5. Home. Louisiana is my home. I have lived here almost my entire life. I was born in the city that I now live in. I love my state.

Just a quick note to tell everyone Happy Mardi Gras. I sure wish I were there. Unfortunately I am at work today. I hope it will be busy to pass the time quickly.

I'm Back!

I have made it back home. The weekend was a good time had by all. I got lots of stitching done. I finally set down and made myself do the outlining on my Mirabilia RR. I stitched on it from about 7 Saturday morning until around 10 Saturday night. I was very focused and only took time out to eat but, I got it done. One more thing that was hanging over my head is finally done. Me, Jann, Theresa, and Kaye got there around 3 on Saturday and got right to stitching. Saturday I stitched on Quaker Garden.
Sunday all day was the RR and this morning Theresa and I headed home after breakfast. We had a good time, stayed up too late, got up way too early, and ate entirely too much but it was fun. Having said that, it sure will be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Adios!

I found out several weeks ago that tomorrow will be the announcement that the pastor at my church is resigning. All I will say on the subject is that it is time.

I am leaving in a few hours to go with 13 other women from the stitch shop to go to the camp of one of the ladies for the weekend. Most people around here get a long weekend because Monday is President's Day and Tuesday is Mardi Gras. I will have to be at work by 12 on Monday so I will come home in time for that.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Hopefully I will finally get some stitching done.

From: My Secret Stitcher Sister

I got my first secret stitcher sister package in the mail yesterday. I have so many new things to play with! I got this really cool paper flower that blooms when you unfold it, I got a kitty that grows when you put her in water, some Arnott cookies (yummy), some bath fizzies, some cotton candy lip gloss, some shades of red and pink dmc, and a sticky note pad. I just love getting surprise packages!

Happy Birthday Mama. Today was my mom's 70th birthday.

Pretty in Plaid

I made significant progress on my needlecase this weekend. As you can see, the plaid is beginning to take shape. I really like the combination of colors that I got. This is such an easy technique.

Other than working on my needlecase, this weekend was pretty unproductive. I didn't do any other stitching. I stayed home Friday night, Saturday night was spent running errands and by the time Sunday came around I was exhausted so I took a big fat nap!
Hopefully I will start stitching again soon.

I Really Must Do Better!

I do need to make an effort to update my blog more often. I did good at first but now it just seems nothing is going on in my life.

Last night at EGA we learned how to do Chinese Plaid. It was pretty interesting. This is my progress. As you can see, I didn't get very far but I did enough that when I do the next rows I know where to stitch. I was really excited about this project to learn to do the technique. It will be a needle case when finished.

This is my latest progress picture of Quaker Garden. Hopefully I can snag a few minutes this weekend to stitch some more on it. I also have finally nailed down a layout for my Mirabilia round robin. My goal is to stitch that this weekend as well.

Good Mail Day

Saturday I got this!
This is my biscournu exchange piece that I received from Goldie. I think she used Berry Fizz fibers. She also included some thread, buttons, and a note pad. I love it!

This was a pretty boring weekend. Sunday was the most excitement. I went to a small gift market in Jackson, MS. We picked up a few things there but, it was really small. I think we got some good things though.

Happy Stitching.
