Wanted: Mirabilia

I started Quaker Garden last night but only got about 20 stitches in before I decided I was too tired to stitch. I did manage to finish one of my secret stitchy projects but, it still can't be revealed.

I am designing and planning for my Mirabilia Round Robin. If anyone has any Mirabilia patterns that they want to sell for cheap or trade, please let me know.

This is...Weekend Update!

It was a pretty uneventful weekend. Friday night I cleaned house some. Saturday Autumn and Kaye came over and we got all of our Mirabilia RR plans laid out. We are all going to end up with some very nice pieces. Sunday I took a quick trip with my mom to the jewelry show in New Orleans. I didn't buy much except a new purse. I think that is the rule, that if you go, you have to buy a new purse. I haven't stitched since Thursday night and am definitely having some withdrawals here. I have a surprise stitch that I need to finish up soon. I guess that will be tonight. I was hoping to get to it today but, seeing how it is already almost 2, I don't see that happening.

Off to actually get some work done. LOL. I haven't done much this morning and need to get a huge Vera order ready.

Happy Stitching!

Road Trip!

Yesterday Karen kidnapped me from work for a quick road trip to New Orleans to visit the cross stitch stores there. We got a late start so fortunately they were open late. First we went to Acadian Corner. I was able to get all of the beads, treasures, and Kreinik for all of my upcoming products. Michelle has an amazing selection of this stuff. She not only had what I needed but, actually had extra on the rack. I got every single bead I needed. I was pretty impressed. After there, we went to find a King Cake. Well, we got sidetracked and stopped off at a Hallmark store and did a little damage there. My friend Angel's shop was across the street so we stopped off there for a minute, then it was off to our last stop. That shop, Accents in Stitches had lots of fleur de lis charts. I think that is her specialty. I did really good there. I only got a needle magnet. After that it was off to dinner then a visit to the 2 story Target and then home. All in all it was a good day.

A Finish!

Yay, it is finally done. This pattern is Trellis by The Workbasket. I worked it on 40 ct Newcastle linen. The color is Chasescape by Silkweaver. I used one strand over 2 threads and I used DMC. I felt the colors were more vibrant than the overdyes and complemented the fabric better.

I can't decide what to start next. I need a Tuesday night project. I think I am going to crash a SAL on some other blogs and start Toccata II and do Toccata II-sday but, I won't take that to stitching with me. I also want to start Sweet Bird by Midsummer Night Designs that I got for Christmas and Quaker Garden by Blackbird Designs. Maybe I will just start all of them and drive myself crazy until I finish. I also have 2 gift projects going right now and am signing up for another round robin. OK, is something in the water over here?

Office Depot just opened up down the street and they just brought by the nicest gift for the merchants in the shopping center. It is a leather notebook and pen set. I wonder if I can snag that from my mom. I find that since we moved our shop we get more perks from local businesses. When Chick-fil-a opened we got invited to the preview night and about 30 coupons. I could have eaten free sandwiches for every day in January.

Tonight is stitch night at the LNS. I guess I will go and stitch for a little while. I will post tomorrow which project I decide on.

Stitchy Weekend!

I did manage to do some stitching over the weekend.
Friday night I went to PMS. It was OK. I think Karen and I have decided that 8:00 is just too early to quit stitching so, she came to my house after to stitch until about 11. By the time you get there, eat, clean up, get all your stuff out, you only have about an hour of stitching time with an 8:00 closing time.

Saturday I worked until 4 then Karen, Kaye and I went to Connie's house again since they were not able to go to the first sale. I think they got some good stuff. I didn't buy anything other than a few cuts of plain fabric. Then the four of us went to dinner and Karen again came over to stitch. That was an 11 o clock night too.

Sunday I skipped church, hit the dollar store to start getting stuff for all of the exchanges I am in and then headed home. I was going to watch the Saints game. I am not a football person at all but, I was intending to show a little team spirit. Well, that plan got sidetracked by a nap. When I got up I stitched and finished most of the Trellis. As you can see I don't have much left. I should be able to finish this soon.

I have also been working on this little project. What is it?? Haha

For those of you that may be interested, check over on the Rotation BB for the spring exchange. Sign ups are now being taken.

I'm Still Here

Well, we didn't go on our trip. Bummer. I was really looking forward to just getting away from here. Oh well, there is always next market.

Tonight I am going to PMS at the LNS. PMS stands for pizza munchies and I don't know what the s is for, stitching maybe. That will give me a chance to stitch some. I made a little progress last night on trellis. While I am on a roll, I guess I will stitch on that some more tonight.

See you soon!

Should We Stay or Should We Go?

My mom and I are supposed to be leaving for Dallas in the morning to attend the January gift market. Stay tuned for a decision on whether we will be going. The weather is really bad between here and there. Either way, there WILL be stitching this weekend. I was too busy to stitch yesterday.

For those that don't know me, my mom and I own a Merle Norman Cosmetics studio. We sell makeup and also have gifts in our shop. Some of the things that we sell are Vera Bradley and Lampe Berger. We also do monogramming and embroidery and my mom can sew anything that you want. That is how I get my finishing done, just give it to mom. For the most part my job is fun, especially when we get new stuff. I do have the benefit of down time too when I can stitch or read.

Stay tuned for a decision on the trip. I will have pics after the weekend.

Play Day

I don't really have anything new today.

My mom is having a small medical procedure done this morning so she will not be at work today. That means I get to stitch all day in between customers. I just heard from the lady that took my mom and she said that the dr gave a good report and that my mom is home in the bed for the day.

We got all of our new spring makeup colors in yesterday at work. This morning I came in to work with no makeup on and tried the new foundation that we got and the new colors. I always like the spring colors. Out of this collection, I like the cool colors the best although they are a little strong.

I have been stitching and only have 2 big sides left to do of the project I am working on but I can't show any pics.

Quit Spending Money!!

That is something that I have yet to perfect. If I see something I want, I buy it. Saturday I ran into Target and found the cutest slippers (I think so anyway)

Sunday Autumn and I went to Connie's house and stash shopped. For those that don't know her, Connie used to own a LNS in St Louis and closed her shop when she moved to LA. She had some silk threads that I bought. I think they may come in handy for some future exchanges, etc.

This is Sapphire Expressions from Silkweaver that Autumn gave me. I am going to try to use it for Stargazer. I am concerned that it will be too dark but, I will pull the threads and look at it. I have been searching for fabric for this pattern ever since it came out. My problem is that with its name, I feel like it should be done on fabric that looks like night but I am afraid that the colors will blend in. Oh well, we will see.

This last picture is my stash haul from Needlecraft Corner. After Christmas, I was looking over all of the patterns that I want to stitch this year that are already in my stash. I realized I needed some NPI silks and Drema had them at the old price and 20% off so I made the plunge. I also got the fabric for a Drawn Thread piece that I am going to start and the Waterlilies are for another sewing kit. It was a good stash weekend! Make me stop the insanity!

In other news, I did get my new health insurance and verified my dr appt in April so hopefully soon, all these problems will be taken care of.

Coconuts and Other Tidbits

Last night was full of activity.
I went to my EGA meeting. It wasn't too bad. I chose to work on closing out the books for the end of the year (one of my treasurer duties). I got almost done and realized that I was over 700.00 off. After a bit of reviewing, I found the error. EGA had sent my form to me with 2004's ending balance on it instead of 2005's.

While I was at the meeting I overheard a bit of juicy gossip. I told those that I felt would be amused. If anyone else wants to know, just email me and I will tell you. I ought to be ashamed!

After the meeting I ran by Target to start stockpiling dollar items for my secret stitcher and birthday exchanges. Sorry, I can't show you but I got some goooood stuff!

When I got home I went across the street to visit with my neighbors. I found out several weeks ago that Fred Luter from Franklin Ave Baptist Church preaches at my church on Sunday afternoons. I also found out that my neighbors grandma (mawmaw) practically raised him so, I went to ask them if I could go with them one afternoon to listen to him preach. This led to the discussion of the coconuts. You see, my neighbors are Katritians. They moved here after the hurricane and are diligently trying to get back to the city because IT'S CARNIVAL TIME. I found out that Mr I has been a member of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club yes, Zulu, for over 35 years. Mrs G told me that there is already a coconut with my name on it. I don't even have to go to the parade to get it. Maybe they will throw it to me across the street. She told me I needed to go with them to Lundi Gras, the Monday before Mardi Gras and sell Zulu souviners in the Zulu booth on the riverfront. I don't think so!

I think that is all for now. I haven't stitched in 3 days and am having withdrawals. Maybe today or tonight I will get a chance.

More later.

I get one too!

I just realized last night as I was getting my exchange gift ready that I get one back. I am sure that I will like it. I live getting stitched gifts from other stitchers.

I have an EGA meeting tonight. That has gotten to be an interesting organization. Fewer and fewer people show up for the meetings. I wonder how long we will continue to pay our dues. I have to at least one more time because I am the treasurer. I am trying to find someone to replace me for next year.

I am waiting for stash. After Christmas and before the NPI silks went up, I placed a huge order with Needlecraft Corner. I hope to get it soon.

Surprise Stitching

I don't have any photo updates today but, I have been stitching. Time got away from me before Christmas and I didn't quite get all of my Christmas presents stitched. Fortunately, I have a very understanding friend and she is patiently waiting for her Christmas present. I went to stitching tonight at my LNS and worked some on Trellis. I am about a third of the way finished. When I got to stitching, I had a pleasant surprise waiting for me. Lady of the Mist is finally home! It will be a while before I stitch her. I have too many other things I want to get done like yesterday.

Thanks everyone for all of the kind comments about my blog.

Are you finished yet?

That is the question. The answer is "Not yet."
Yesterday I stitched all afternoon and into the evening. I got a lot accomplished but still have a long way to go. I started this on Jan. 1, 2007. More progress soon!

Endymion Anyone?

Today I was invited to go to the Endymion parade in New Orleans this Mardi Gras. I have a friend whose husband is a member and she asked me to attend with her. By being a member, you get to hang out in the Superdome all night until the parade gets there. There is lots of food and partying. I can only remember that one of the bands is Stix. It is formal attire for those who attend. The good thing is that it is inside and a bathroom is nearby. I don't know whether I will go or not. It is an all night affair and the thought of driving home from New Orleans at 2:00 in the morning in a formal dress is not all that appealling. I will give it some thought.

Welcome 2007

Wow....2007. I have made a resolution of sorts to photograph all of my stitching for 2007 therefore the creation of a blog was in order. I hope that I follow through. I do have lots of support so it shouldn't be a problem.
I already have a finish for the year. I started this on Dec. 30, 2006 and finished it in the wee hours of the morning Jan. 1, 2007. This is Vineyard by The Workbasket. It is stitched on 36 ct Edinburgh Linen by Silkweaver. The color is French Vanilla Swirl. This was a good color to use. It is a good neutral brown. I may need to get another piece of it to keep in my stash.
Last month I decided to participate in the biscournu exchange on the Rotation BB. This photo shows one side of my biscournu and all of the other goodies that I am sending along. I will pack up the biscournu in that box and then am including a bath fizzie, body cream, soap, a smelly pack, and some tea. I hope the receiver enjoys it. I stitched the biscournu on 26 ct White Birch Heatherfield with Charcoal Waterlillies fiber.
My New Years Day start was The Trellis by The Workbasket. I hope to be able to make some progress on it tonight. I wonder why I am doing all of these Workbasket pieces lately!???
